Zest Signature Mocktails
Non-alcoholic drinks don't have to be overly sweet and boring. The world of NA Spirits has grown substantially in the last few years, with a variety of replacers for the hangover producing stuff available. But learning how to switch it up from cocktail to mocktail can seem daunting!
Here are our four favorite Mocktail Recipes to help get you started.
The Not-Buttered "Rum"
You can switch up the vegan butter in this recipe for dairy.
1/4 cup maple syrup
½ cup dairy-free butter alternative
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
¾ cup Ritual Zero Proof Rum
Make Spiced Compound Butter
Add the brown sugar, butter alternative, and spices to a medium sized bowl. With a hand mixer, mix until until combined and smooth. At this point, you can refrigerate the compound butter for up to one month, or freeze for up to three. Personally, like to make a big batch at the start of winter, and freeze it into ice cube trays so I can make a single mocktail serving all winter long.
When ready to serve, boil your 2 cups of water. Pour into a large capacity mixing glass, and add the Ritual Zero Proof Rum.
Spoon in the Spiced Compound Butter and stir well until all the sugar has dissolved, about 2-3 minutes.
Divide the Buttered Rum between 4 mugs and garnish with cinnamon sticks, whip cream, and/or a grating of fresh nutmeg. Serve hot.
