Bake With The Bake Off For A Chance To Win!
Did you, like me, almost cry a little bit when you saw there was a new season of the Great British Bake Off on Netflix last week? And did you, like me, feel all the mixed emotions when you realized they're only releasing one episode at a time? Well, here's the good thing - one episode a week gives us time to bake along with the Bake Off.
Every week, we'll be sharing bakes inspired by the Bake Off. And if you too bake something inspired by the Great British Bake Off and tag @zestbillings on Instagram or Facebook, we'll enter you in a drawing for a $100 Zest gift card at the end of the season! Limited to one entry per week, but if you bake and tag us every week that's 10 chances to win!
Don't worry, Paul Hollywood won't be peering over your shoulder with those piercing blue eyes judging not just your Gateau Saint Honore but all of the life choices that led you to believe you could make a show-stopping Gateau Saint Honore in the first place. This is going to be a judgment-free space to get inspired in the kitchen.
So let's get baking, and remember to share your bakes for a chance to win!

This week, I attempted the technical challenge set in Episode One of Season 8 of the Great British Bake Off by Paul - Mini Pineapple Upside Down Cakes. I used the NordicWare Anniversary Edition Bundlette Pan. Instead of converting the metric measurements to imperial, I used my trusty OXO Good Grips Food Scale to ensure precise measurements.
Making the caramel was the only truly "technical" part of this technical challenge. You don't need a candy thermometer, just a watchful eye. You're looking for a golden color in your finished syrup, not too dark or it will taste bitter!
