Shrunken Heads Apple Cider
There are all sorts of spooky treats you can serve up at your Halloween Party, but the shrunken heads in this spiced apple cider is an irresistible centerpiece. You can dehydrate these little buggers while you brew your Oliver & Pluff Witch's Brew Wassail (which I promise is just a fancy old English word for hot mulled cider), then plop them into the punch bowl just before serving.
Start with Granny Smith or Golden Delicious apples. Preheat your oven to 250º (or fire up the dehydrator if you have one!) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Peel the apples, core, then slice in half from top to bottom.
From here, creativity rains. A good pairing knife and a vegetable peeler with a built in potato-eyer will help you make the most intricate cuts. I've taken photos of a few different "designs" for inspiration. Think pumpkins, but smaller!
Line the little skulls up on your baking sheet, and bake for 3-4 hours (time will vary depending on the size of the apples), until they are browned and shriveled. Plop them into your mulled cider before serving.
